Revert "Add platform-specific release configuration"

This reverts commit 3eb728b05b0f03b8f675aee1e8d598fd55c4b11b.
The change caused an unforeseen regression in macOS binary size as the
Unix release configuration failed to actually apply the 'opt'
configuration.
